Hummingbirds Love This Flower Named After A Mythical Beast
By LAUREN KRYSTAF
Hummingbirds’ magical speeds and iridescent colors make them a birdwatcher’s dream. It only makes sense that one of their favorite flowers, a snapdragon, is equally as captivating.
Its tubular blooms and bright colors are beloved by many pollinators, including hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Cultivars come in a range of heights up to 3 feet tall.
They also come in a rainbow of shades, including the bright red that hummingbirds love. Regardless of your garden’s color palette, there’s bound to be a snapdragon to match it.
To grow snapdragons from seeds, start them indoors to prevent the small seeds from being washed away. After about two months, move them to a well-draining, sunny spot outside.
Stay on top of watering them, especially during the hottest months. Alternatively, you can purchase young snapdragon plants from garden centers to save yourself some time.
