How To Use WD-40 To Revive Your Old Pair Of Scissors
By FRANCES DEAN
For scissors to function properly, they must be sharpened, oiled, and rust-free — and WD-40 is the wonder solution you need to keep them in top-notch condition.
WD-40 was created to remove rust, so spray it onto the scissors, wait a bit, and then scrub off the oxidized metal. Afterward, spray a little extra for long-lasting protection.
Apply the WD-40 directly to the fulcrum (the middle hinge) for the best results, as a faulty fulcrum will prevent the scissors from opening and closing smoothly.
As for knowing when to clean your scissors, the answer is pretty simple. If they start sticking, become rusty, or feel dull, it's time to reach for that can of WD-40.
