How To Use Epsom Salt To Make Your Lilac Bush Flourish
By VALERIE GOLIK
To get your lilacs blooming, you should first conduct a soil test. If it indicates low magnesium, using Epsom salt as a soil amendment is an excellent way to add this nutrient.
There are two methods to apply Epsom salt: dry and wet. For the former, dust 1 cup of salt around the soil that encircles the lilac shrub when it's dormant (in the cold season).
Work the salt into the dirt’s top layer with a trowel, hoe, or rake. For the wet way, add 2 tablespoons of salt to 1 gallon of water, and spray your shrub once a month in dormancy.
