How To Use Epsom Salt
To Banish Chipmunks From Your Yard
By TRICIA GOSS
Chipmunks can cause significant damage to your garden, plants, and outdoor areas, but there are practical and easy ways to keep
them out with Epsom salt.
Epsom salt is a natural mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Spreading a thin layer around plants and entry points can create a less appealing environment for chipmunks.
Additionally, you can mix the Epsom salt with Lysol because it emits an unpleasant odor that affects the chipmunk’s senses, signaling a challenging environment to them.
One tablespoon of Lysol disinfectant liquid with about ⅓ cup of Epsom salt (three ounces) and one gallon of water is a simple but potent mixture to keep chipmunks at bay.
Use a spray bottle or garden pump sprayer to apply the mixture to areas where chipmunks are frequently seen. Avoid spraying it directly onto plants, as it could cause damage.
