How To Paint Plastic Patio Chairs To Look Like New Again
By RON BAKER
Organic gardener Robbie of the YouTube channel Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy shared a simple hack to revitalize your plastic patio chairs using paint.
While many believe that plastic-compatible paint is required for this type of project, Robbie buys the low-cost paint samples that were returned to big-box hardware centers.
Unless you're using Robbie's method, the best paint to use is spray paint. Apply it in thin, even coats, allowing each layer to dry properly before adding another.
If you're used to painting surfaces like wood, this might take a little getting used to. Before you begin, there are ways to ensure that your paint sticks as well as possible.
Clean the chair's surface with your preferred product before using fine-grit sandpaper on it to give the paint more to adhere to. Wipe off the sanding dust and let the chair dry.
Apply a primer made specifically for use on plastic. Check the primer can or product data sheet for its evaporation time; wait for the recommended time to pass before painting.
