Rather than maxing out your credit card on an Urban Outfitters Mariana Tile Digital Printed Chenille Rug, elevate an affordable IKEA Sortsö rug by creating a luxe-looking DIY copy.
Aside from the Sortsö rug from IKEA, you’ll need a measuring tape, painter's tape, acrylic paint, paint markers, Scotchgard waterproof spray, and some picture or letter stencils.
Demarcate your border with painter's tape, paint it, then create a grid using the measuring tape, painter's tape, and paint. Recreate the original rug’s layout or map out your own.
Lastly, create your design using the acrylic paint, markers, and stencils. Once complete, let the rug dry, spray it with Scotchgard, and display it on your floor, wall, or ceiling.
