How To Easily Clean And Descale A Cuisinart Coffee Maker
By SAKSHI KHAITAN
Coffee contains oil, which builds up inside the carafe, filter basket, and brew chamber during brewing. In time, this will ruin the taste of your coffee and clog your maker.
To clean your Cuisinart, unplug it and let it cool. Clean the outside with a microfiber cloth — never a scourer — using a few drops of mild dish soap in water for stubborn marks.
Now, lift the lid to remove the coffee filter and used coffee grounds. Clean the filter with mild soap and warm water, or place it on the top rack of your dishwasher.
Descaling should be done every three to six months, depending on how often you use it and the level of minerals in the water. First, remove the water filter and clean the carafe.
Next, fill the carafe with water and vinegar in a 2:1 ratio and pour it into the reservoir. Replace the lid and press the "clean" (or brew) button, which will start flashing red.
The cleaning cycle will start, so give it time to descale itself. When you hear five beeps, the clean is complete, so dump the deposited cleaning solution in the carafe.
If the clean button stays on after you hear the beeps, repeat the descale process or fill it with fresh water and repeat to remove the vinegar. Finally, replace the filter.
