How To Correctly Descale A Coffee Maker Without Vinegar
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Instead of vinegar and its pungent smell, use hydrogen peroxide to descale your coffee maker. It’s an effective disinfectant that will allow you to enjoy a mold-free cup of joe.
To start, add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to a coffee pot full of water. Run it through your coffee maker as you would when brewing coffee to clean the machine and kill bacteria.
Make sure to run a couple of additional brewing cycles using only clean water to ensure that the hydrogen peroxide has been completely eliminated from the coffee machine.
Be sure to repeat this process from time to time if you notice that your coffee maker has started to look dirty or if you've noticed any additional mold or yeast growth.
