How To Clean Chrome Hardware
By MEREDITH EASTWOOD
Bathrooms often sparkle from white tiles, mirrors, and an abundance of chrome hardware, and it’s important to maintain this shine through water spots, streaks, and rust. Chrome can easily be damaged if you’re not using the right cleaning products or methods, so check out the following tips to keep your bathroom bright!
Homemade cleaning products are sure to keep your hardware clean without harming it, and the most handy cleaning solution is vinegar. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts water and vinegar, spray your chrome, and wipe down with a soft cloth; for stubborn stains, add baking soda to the mix and scrub gently with a toothbrush.
Chrome is supposed to resist rust, so any found on your hardware is the result of the metal underneath it coming in contact with air. With pure vinegar, leave it on the rusted areas for 10 minutes, scrub hard, and seal any openings with car wax — or dip a ball of aluminum foil into the water and rub it on the rusted areas to both clean and seal any scratches at the same time.
