How To Choose The Right Flooring For An Uneven Subfloor
By SAKSHI KHAITAN
If your budget doesn’t allow you to get professional help for leveling out your subfloor, you can alternatively opt for flooring solutions like epoxy and carpets.
Epoxy is incredibly flexible and can easily level your uneven floor if installed adequately. It’s durable, looks elegant, and can imitate the look of other flooring options.
However, epoxy requires a sturdy subfloor to work with, which rules out soft subflooring choices like cork. It may also get costly if your subfloor needs considerable leveling.
Carpet is another cost-effective option for leveling subfloors, but installation is key. You must strategically slice and place carpet pads over the dips to achieve even flooring.
Other solutions include engineered wood, luxury vinyl tile, and laminate. In fact, if your floor’s unevenness is less than 4.7 millimeters, you can install luxury vinyl tile as is.
