It can be disappointing when you go to wear a shirt or sweater and find smelly pit stains. Luckily, unseasoned meat tenderizer powder from the spice section can solve the problem.
Meat tenderizing powders contain papain, an enzyme that helps break down not just meat fiber but also the body-generated chemicals that can cause odors and stains in clothing.
To use meat tenderizer, moisten the pit area of your garment with water and apply the powder liberally, massaging it with your fingertips before letting it sit for 20 minutes.
Let it sit a bit longer if smells or odors persist before laundering and drying. Do not dry the garment before the stain lifts, as it can make the issue worse.
