How Erin Napier Solves A Common Challenge
With Waterfall Countertops
By MARCO ROSSI
According to HGTV’s Erin Napier, it is crucial that the veining on your stone carries over to the cascading sides of your island to create a luxurious, polished waterfall look.
While waterfall counters should look like they came from one piece, natural stone does not come in slabs large enough to achieve this. Instead, manufactured materials are used.
With manufactured stones, like quartz, you can customize and match up vein placements as you please. Between material and vein placement, Napier recommends choosing matching veins.
If you have your heart set on marble with continuous veins and are willing to spend extra money, you can work with a countertop specialist to request bookmatch stone slabs.
Using this technique, experts cut matching slabs from the block, then polish each half on opposite sides to create a mirror image effect when placed next to each other.
