Here's What Happens If You Overwater Hydrangeas
By JANELLE WARD
Overwatering hydrangeas can lead to a multitude of problems, potentially causing severe damage or even the death of the plant.
If hydrangeas receive too much water at once, they may become susceptible to mildew or other fungi forming along the roots, which can cause extensive damage or kill
the plant.
Moreover, an excess of water can essentially drown the plant, preventing its flowers from blooming in their respective seasons.
Signs of overwatering include old and new leaves dropping from the stems, yellowing of the leaves, and stunting of the plant's overall growth.
Fortunately, overwatered hydrangeas can sometimes be saved. This can be accomplished by pruning the damaged roots and moving the plant to
a more suitable environment.
