Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams have unveiled their 2025 paint color predictions, named Colormix 2025 Forecast Capsules and Naturally Refined, respectively.
These collections feature stunning hues but perpetuate a trend-driven culture that instills a constant fear of missing out, leading to frequent and unnecessary repainting.
HGTV star Nate Berkus criticizes this approach, noting, "Trends are designed to make people feel bad about what color they didn't buy last year. It's planned obsolescence."
If homeowners pick paint solely because it's trendy, they're likely to replace it once it falls out of fashion, a cycle that benefits the paint company more than
the homeowner.
