Here's How Chopsticks Can Help Keep Flies Away From Your Patio
By D.G. SCIORTINO
Old chopsticks can be used as diffuser sticks in a glass jar of Pine-Sol to release its fly-repelling aroma into the air gradually and keep those bothersome flies away.
Chopsticks don't have as much absorbing power
as rattan — the material diffuser sticks are typically made from — but they still get the job done.
Meanwhile, certain types of Pine-Sol contain pine oil, which has a strong odor that flies can't stand. Pine-Sol also contains phenol and oil that kill flies on contact.
To create a DIY fly-repelling diffuser, fill a vase with a narrow neck with Pine-Sol, toss your chopsticks in and place it in the problematic areas on your patio.
