Grow A Colorful Lawn With A Low-Maintenance Flowering Perennial

Upkeeping a traditional lawn in the face of summer droughts and water restrictions can be difficult. Luckily, yellow perennial peanut offers a beautifully flowering alternative.
The drought-resistant perennial’s deep roots allow it to survive on rainwater alone. It requires only occasional mowing, helps prevent erosion, and fixes nitrogen in the soil.
Before switching to perennial peanut, keep in mind that it only grows well in warm climates with sandy soil and without a lot of foot traffic and that it takes time to establish.
If you’re ready to commit, start by removing your current lawn before aerating your soil. Then, use seeds or already-started perennial peanut plugs to begin growing your new lawn.
