Give Your Kitchen Towels New Life With This Hydrogen Peroxide Hack
By KOURTNEY BORMAN
When your kitchen towels start looking stained and dingy, don’t reach for the chlorine bleach. Instead, use natural hydrogen peroxide to gently bring your tea towels back to life.
To brighten and deodorize your towels, pour a ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide into the washing machine with your regular detergent, add the towels, soak for 30 minutes, then wash.
If you don't have a top-load washer, fill a large basin or your bathtub with warm water, add the hydrogen peroxide, soak your towels for 15 to 30 minutes, then wash them as usual.
As the hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen, it lifts stains and neutralizes odors. It’s gentle on both your fabric and your appliance and leaves no harmful residue.
Hydrogen peroxide is safe to use with your standard laundry detergent. It’ll make your towels come out cleaner and fresher, and it’ll cleanse your washing machine as a bonus.
