Give Your Garden A Fragrant
Boost With Hummingbird Mint
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Agastache, also known as hummingbird mint or hyssop, is a versatile flowering plant that hummingbirds love. These plants often have pleasant licorice and mint fragrances.
Grow it in a sunny spot with fertile, well-draining soil, and consider adding mulch if you live in an arid region. It thrives as a perennial in USDA zones five through nine.
Plant agastache in spring, summer, or fall. Avoid deadheading and pruning after mid-summer, and don't cut stems in fall, as they provide nutrients and protect the crown in winter.
