Give Your Concrete Porch A Hardwood Floor Look With Chip Gaines' Tip
By KOURTNEY BORMAN
In the popular HGTV show “Fixer Upper,” Chip Gaines shared a brilliant technique to make your concrete porch floor resemble hardwood flooring in an extremely cost-effective way.
Real wood is costly and deteriorates quicker, while a concrete floor has the benefit of weather and fire-resistance, as well as long-term durability if it’s properly maintained.
To DIY your beautiful faux-wood floor, begin by building a frame around your site to keep the concrete in place. Then, mix your concrete into a peanut butter-like consistency.
Next, pour the concrete into the frame and spread it out evenly using a hoe, making sure the surface is slightly above the form to allow for shrinkage during drying.
Before the concrete sets, create the faux-hardwood look by pressing a rubber stamp with a wide-plank finish into the wet concrete. Finally, leave your new floor to dry completely.
