For A Tangle-Free Garden Hose, Here's How To Coil It
By RACHEL ANN MELEGRITO
A garden hose is vital in lawn care, but dealing with the tangles and kinks that form in it can be frustrating. Luckily, there are several hose coiling techniques to prevent this.
The most common methods include looping, the figure-eight, and the over-under technique. However, it’s the figure-eight that’s most effective for storing, transporting, and using.
To coil your hose, disconnect it from the faucet and drain the remaining water after shutting it off by holding it vertically with the end open and giving it a shake.
Afterward, pull the hose near the house and coil from the section attached to the water source so they end up at the bottom, with subsequent coils layered on top.
This not only helps prevent tangles and makes it easier to store, but it also looks neater and can save your hose from being damaged by sun exposure or being chewed on by rodents.
