Toaster ovens frequently end up full of crumbs and covered in grease. Fortunately, all you need is some water and dish soap, plus vinegar or baking soda, to effectively clean them.
Start by unplugging the machine and pulling out the rack, baking tray, and crumb tray. These items can all be washed separately in the sink with dish soap and hot water.
Once done, hold the toaster oven above your trash bin or sink and shake it gently to knock out any crumbs. You can also do this outside to avoid getting crumbs on the floor.
Then, mix warm water, a few drops of dish soap, and white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a sponge in the mix and wring it out to help prevent the heating coils from getting wet.
Next, lightly scrub the inside of your toaster oven with the sponge until the grease lifts away. If you prefer not to use vinegar, you can make a paste with baking soda and water.
Stir small amounts of water into a bit of baking soda until it has a thick consistency. Rub the paste over the inside of your toaster oven, but not the heating elements.
This mixture can sit for a while to help loosen the burnt-on food, or you could try scrubbing right away. Repeat the cleaning process until the desired results are achieved.
