Elevate The Look Of Plain String Lights With An Egg Carton Trick
By LINDSAY DONALDSON
Upcycle your empty egg cartons to make paper or plastic flowers that fit over string light bulbs to create enchanting illuminated flowers perfect for adorning your table or mantel.
This low-cost project calls for some empty egg cartons, string lights, an X-Acto knife with a pointed blade, scissors, a pencil, and two or three colors of poster or acrylic paint.
First, clean your egg cartons, then paint both sides in a different color. Once dry, cut each individual cup into a flower shape with four petals until you have one cup per bulb.
Cut a small cross slit in the middle of each cup with the knife and push the light bulb through it so the cupped side surrounds it. Add two flowers per bulb for contrasting colors.
