Does OxiClean Actually Work?
By VALERIE GOLIK
OxiClean promises results against stains, odors, and dinginess, but does it actually work? To determine this, experts broke down the chemistry behind the product and used it on many different stain producers to see if it lives up to the hype.
The official and complete chemical makeup of OxiClean is kept under wraps, but sodium percarbonate is what enables OxiClean to lift stains and brighten clothes. We also know that the laundry booster does not pose any environmental concerns, is color safe, and works in many different water temperatures.
Results from an investigation showed a clear connection between stain removal and OxiClean when it is used to presoak your clothes. All stains tested using the presoaking method disappeared except two — although faint, the grass and mud stains appeared to need additional attention.
