DIY Extra Shoe Storage With This
Idea From Dave And Jenny Marrs
BY RON BAKER
Shoe racks are essential to a mud room. This creative western-themed boot hanger was made by "Fixer To Fabulous" hosts Dave And Jenny Marrs for a horse ranch.
Made from a reclaimed wood shelf supported by a black metal frame, the rack is simple but perfectly executed. Inverted boots hang from 12 horseshoes welded to it.
There's a shelf for storage above the shoe rack and a space below it to hang coats or hats. Jenny Marrs made a bench and cubbies for the family's kids in this area.
Make your own boot rack using inexpensive horseshoes from Amazon. Weld the horseshoes to the frame, or adjust the design to use nuts and bolts or a two-part epoxy instead.
Instead of horseshoes for boots, customize your rack by making coat hooks from hammer heads or knife handles, or repurpose a prefab or floating shelf rather than welding.
