DIY Budget-Friendly Raised Garden Beds With A Chair & Storage Tote
By KENNA O'ROURKE
With a few weather-beaten plastic lawn chairs, some plastic totes filled with soil, and your favorite plants, you can make inexpensive and adjustable raised garden beds.
Paint your old chairs in playful colors, arrange them in the spot you’ve chosen in your garden, and drill drainage holes in the seat of each chair and in the bottom of your totes.
Place a tote on each chair and fill them with twigs, kitchen scraps, paper shreds, hay, and soil to create a compost system within each tote. Leave several empty
Put buckets beneath the chairs to catch the nutrient-rich water that drains from the totes for reuse. Once you’ve added suitable plants, you’ll have shapeable, easy-to-move beds.
Possible downsides to these beds is that they may not be as easy to move when filled with heavy soil and water, and the small totes can only accommodate certain types of plants.
