DIY A Beautiful Window Seat With This Ikea Cabinet Hack
By JESSICA DANIELS
Creating a built-in window seat will add an upscale, personalized feel to your home. With this Ikea Bestå cabinet hack, it’s easier and more budget-friendly than you might think.
It’s usually best to position your window seat near windows nestled in a corner. The cabinet comes in a variety of sizes and configurations so you can tailor it to fit your space.
Fortify your seating by making a frame from 2-by-4s for the cabinets to sit on. Attach this to the wall and build additional framing around each section and to fill any gaps.
Use ¾-inch plywood for the outer surface of the seat and adhere to the base with construction glue. Finish the structure with pre-primed trim to create a truly integrated look.
Tape off the floor and sand everything before priming and painting. Choose doors, drawers, and hardware to reflect your personal style, and add cushions and pillows to finish.
