If you’re planning to replace your unsightly flush mount light fixture, try this idea instead from TikTok user @stephaniemichelle_athome, who masked it with an IKEA Nymö lampshade.
This hack is affordable, renter-friendly, and customizable according to your personal style. It’s a quick and easy solution if you have several flush mount lights in your home.
To attach your IKEA Nymö to your flush mount fixture, remove the glass dome covering the light, place the lampshade on the rod, and reconnect the hardware to hold it in place.
Select from many different IKEA lampshades to suit your interior and your budget, including the Ringsta for $17.99 or the Vingmast for $45.99, or you can reuse an old lampshade.
Connecting a shade will be more difficult if your fixture either has a rod that doesn't fit the lampshade or it doesn't have a rod; then, you’ll need to replace the light fixture.
