Design The Perfect Rustic Kitchen Using These Timeless Cabinet Colors
By JULIANA LUMAJ
If you'd like to create a timeless rustic kitchen, move away from bright white cabinets toward neutral hues, like beige, cream, and gray, to complement your rustic decor.
Consider Creamy from Sherwin Williams, a warmer shade that’ll brighten your space while highlighting the natural tones of wood, stone, and metal typical of a rustic kitchen.
For a darker, cozier vibe, both Sherwin Williams' Balanced Beige and Benjamin Moore's Portland Gray combine well with white, black, gray, and any other neutral palette.
An alternative to painted cabinets is a warm, neutral wood stain. As interior designer Kristin Harrison told Homes and Gardens, “Raw wood tones [...] will never go out of style.”
“The nice part about [...] a classic cabinet color, or finish, like these, is that you can use a variety of color on your walls, or even wallpaper to spruce things up,” she added.
Select a medium brown stain or anything warmer, like Home Depot’s Early American Classic wood stain, which is not too dark or bright and will harmonize with your rustic finishes.
Home Depot's Espresso Classic stain will create a darker, moodier look. Contrast it with a lighter wall color, like Sherwin Williams' Eider White, which has a warm gray undertone.
