Create A Stunning Faux Cactus With This Easy Pool Noodle DIY
By ALEXANDRA RODRIGUEZ
If you’d like a cactus plant in your home without the effort of maintaining it, YouTuber @diylilyardor3435 demonstrated how to make a realistic-looking faux one using pool noodles.
You'll need two pool noodles, a terracotta pot, foam sealant spray, Plaster of Paris, two wooden dowels, dark green paint, light green paint, a mixing bowl, and two paint brushes.
Put strips of tape across the top of your terracotta pot to keep your dowels in place, then half-fill the pot with sealant and let it dry overnight to hold the dowels permanently.
Remove the tape, slide the noodles over the dowels, then fill the noodles with sealant from the top to glue them to the dowels. Spray sealant onto plastic wrap to make cactus arms.
Next, use a utility knife to shape the pool noodles to look like a cactus by cutting out vertical indentations all around the noodles. Then, cover them completely with plaster.
Once dry, paint the cactus dark green with light green edges, and add fake spines by gluing on paintbrush bristles with Modge Podge. Finally, hot glue the arms onto the cactus.
