Create A Space-Saving Folding Desk On A Budget With This
Easy DIY
By A. R. HOPKINS
Unlike traditional desks, fold-down desks don’t take up a permanent space in your room, but they can be expensive. Luckily, you can DIY a fold-down desk for about $30.
You’ll need a set of folding mounting brackets and a wooden cutting board big enough to act as a desk. Make sure that the brackets do not extend farther than the board.
To start, attach the cutting board to the brackets using screws. Then, mark a spot on your wall and attach the brackets to it with the included screws and drywall anchors.
Ensure the desk folds up and down properly. If you don’t own a spare board and can’t find one at a thrift store, you can buy a new one for around $70, which is still inexpensive.
To cut the cost down even further, consider buying a laminated pine plank to use in place of the cutting board. It will cost you less than $20 if bought from Home Depot.
