Common Problems That May Occur With An Expandable Garden Hose

Expandable hoses have become popular among gardening enthusiasts for their flexibility and ease of use. However, several users have noted their lifespan leaves much to be desired.
The hose expands when water flows through it, then it contracts to its original size once the water is turned off. While this flexibility is great, it also introduces weak points.
To start, the hose can’t be left under pressure for long periods of time, such as when you put it down between tasks. This can cause the inner lining to burst, destroying the hose.
Its constant expansion and contraction wear the hose out faster than traditional options, making it prone to damage and leaks. It’s also more susceptible to leaks at the fittings.
Proper maintenance can help prolong its lifespan. Avoid leaving the hose under pressure when it's not in use, store it away from direct sun, and don’t drag it over rough surfaces.
