Bring More Summer Birds To Your Yard With These Vibrant Flowers
By LILLY PALTSEV
Trumpet Honeysuckle
Birds adore these vibrant, tubular flowers for their summer nectar and sweet, late-season berries. Additionally, they use its lush foliage for nesting safely.
Sunflowers
All birds love sunflower seeds, making sunflowers a must-have. As different birds favor different varieties, look up what you want to attract before planting the flowers.
For example, woodpeckers and jays love black oil sunflowers; cardinals and chickadees prefer striped; and small birds like finches and sparrows adore dwarf sunflowers’ small seeds.
Zinnias
This flower’s seeds and sweet nectar attract hummingbirds and finches alike. Plant the Soleado variety for nutrient-rich seeds or Lilliput zinnias to attract hummingbirds.
Black-Eyed Susan
During the blooming season, this plant’s yellow flowers and sweet nectar draw in pollinators. After the season passes, birds will feast on its nutritious seeds.
Coneflowers
Coneflowers attract a range of birds with their many colorful varieties, including red, orange, pink, and white. Plus, they thrive in most regions of North America.
