Banish Stink Bugs For Good With This Handy Kitchen Ingredient
By CLAIRE DANGALAN
Known for emitting a foul odor when disturbed, stink bugs are an unwelcome presence in any home or garden. Use this DIY spray solution made with hot peppers to get rid of them.
Capsaicin, the compound responsible for the fiery taste in hot peppers, can be harnessed to create a natural stink bug killer that’s safe for plants and the environment.
To create the spray, you’ll need some hot peppers (the spicier, the better), water, and dish soap. Using gloves, chop up a handful of peppers and add them to a blender with water.
Blend until it’s a thick, pulpy mixture and strain it through a fine mesh to separate the liquid from the solid particles. Add a few drops of dish soap to the liquid and mix well.
Using a spray bottle, apply the mixture directly to any areas where stink bugs congregate or on the plants you want to protect. Don’t spray it near your face to avoid irritation.
