Ban Spiders From Your Home With This Popular Garden Flower
By DANIELLE RAMOS-SULLIVAN
There are many natural remedies, such as vinegar or cinnamon, that can repel spiders, but using a lavender plant can help while also creating a peaceful and relaxing environment.
Lavender contains linalool and linalyl, two compounds that repel spiders and other insects. The plants won’t kill them, but simply deter them from making a nest in your home.
Plant lavender in your garden or a container on your porch. It requires at least 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight, so avoid covered porches and try to place it along a walking path.
If there are already spiders in your home, place the plants in areas you’ve seen them. You should also target exterior doors, windows, and any other gaps.
Alternatively, you can use lavender essential oil in a diffuser to let the scent permeate through the air. You can also mix 10 drops of the oil with water in a spray bottle.
While lavender is an eco-friendly solution that’s non-toxic to humans, they can be toxic to dogs and cats so avoid keeping the plants inside if you have pets.
