Baking Soda Is The Secret To Easily Removing Scratches
From Glass
By DANIELLE RAMOS-SULLIVAN
Glass surfaces, while elegant, can be spoiled by unsightly scratches. Fortunately, baking soda, a common kitchen ingredient, can help restore clarity and shine to glass surfaces.
Baking soda is effective due to its mild abrasiveness that gently buffs and fills in minor scratches and smooths out rough edges without causing further damage.
Get a clean bowl or container, a spoon, a soft microfiber cloth, and baking soda. Use plain baking soda as gel or scented varieties may contain ingredients that can harm the glass.
Clean the surface with warm water and dish soap to remove any residue. Make a paste by combining equal parts baking soda and water, and adjust as needed to get a glue-like texture.
Gently rub a small amount of the paste onto the scratched surface in a circular motion using the microfiber cloth. Don’t scrub aggressively — it may make the scratch worse.
Next, rinse the paste water and dry the surface with a clean, dry cloth. Don’t leave behind any residue, which can attract dirt and grime and give the glass an uneven finish.
Repeat if the scratch remains visible, but stop if you notice further damage. This hack works best for minor scratches, so seek professional help for deep gouges and major cracks.
