Avoid Using Hydrogen Peroxide To
Kill Nutsedge (& What To
Use Instead)
By A. R. HOPKINS
Nutsedge is a persistent perennial lawn weed that evades the reach of most lawn-specific herbicides. While hydrogen peroxide effectively combats it, it can have unwanted results.
GreenPal CEO Bryan Clayton exclusively told House Digest, “[H]ydrogen peroxide [may harm] not just the nutsedge but also the surrounding vegetation and beneficial soil organisms.”
Instead of hydrogen peroxide, Clayton advised, “The only product I've found truly effective against nutsedge is a commercial herbicide called Image,” which you can get on Amazon.
Clayton mentioned that you may need a commercial license to purchase Image herbicide in some states. He said to apply the product “in early spring (April) and again in early May.”
