Avoid This Mistake In Your Flower Garden To Attract More Hummingbirds
By LINDSAY DONALDSON
Flower gardens are the most natural way to bring hummingbirds to your yard, but if the nectar content of the flowers is lacking, you likely won’t see many of these tiny creatures.
The most succulent flowers will up your chances of creating frequent feeding stops. Hummingbirds go crazy for blossoms in bright hues like red with tubular-shaped blooms.
The Missouri Prairie Foundation assembled a list of blooms that dole out copious amounts of nectar, including columbines, bee balm, penstemons, phlox, and milkweed.
If hummingbirds are still avoiding your yard, consider moving the flowers away from thick bushes, shrubs, and tree branches to give the birds a clearer view of any possible danger.
Also think about adding a few extra feeders near the blooms to give the hummingbirds a wider variety of food sources and installing a bird bath or fountain they can bathe in.
