Avoid Clutter With These Creative Kitchen Countertop Decor Ideas
By KRISTY BOWEN
Cutting Boards
Create a stack of boards against the wall for interest without taking up much room. It makes them easy to grab, and they can also be used to hide unsightly outlets.
Hanging Baskets
Use these to store fruit and veggies above the counter, or suspend hanging baskets from the ceiling or mesh bags on hooks so they’re easy to grab and reduce clutter.
Dish Caddy
Keep your dishwashing materials in a caddy. Some caddies rest over the divide of a double sink; others suction cup to the sides. You can also hang a caddy on the wall.
Trays
If you have many canisters, corral them on a tray, lazy Susan, or large charger plate. This also helps keep track of small items and stops them from getting knocked over.
Narrow Shelving
A narrow shelf above can keep counters neat. Use it to hold shakers, spices, tea, or décor items, or create a fun DIY shelf from scrap wood to rest over your stove.
If you are considering a remodel, add built-in alcoves between the studs to add extra space for small shelves to hold spices, oils, and canisters up off the counter.
