The most commonly used asphalt shingle is the three-tab (or bitumen) shingle for its low cost, however, if you want premium-quality roofing, give architectural shingles a try.
Also known as dimensional shingles, they are thicker and more durable than three-tab shingles while offering a more sophisticated, textured look. Architectural shingles come in a variety of colors and can be layered to simulate expensive wooden roof shingles; overall, they provide a great balance between performance and appearance.
While a roof with architectural shingles costs about 25% more than a normal shingle roof, it might be worth it since your roof will last longer and won’t require many repairs. These shingles can also make a big difference when trying to sell your house, increasing its curb appeal for potential buyers in the future.
