Add This Pretty Plant To Your Garden To Attract More Hummingbirds

If you want more hummingbirds in your garden, consider planting lupines, known in Texas as bluebonnets. These plants have palmlike leaves and tall spiky flowers in various colors.
Since hummingbirds lack a strong sense of smell, the lupines' bright pinks, purples, and deep blues catch their eye and draw them in to feed on the plants’ abundant nectar.
In addition to nectar, hummingbirds also feed on insects, and having more insect-attracting flowers present in a garden offers an additional food source for them.
Plant lupines in the fall in well-draining, sandy soil. To increase your chances of drawing in hummingbirds, place your lupines in areas that get full sun to yield the most blooms.
