Kitchen Cleaning Hacks, Container Herb Gardening, Restoring Old Furniture
- Shelley single-handedly restored the original hardwood floors in her previous 1950s home to their former glory (and only had to fix paw prints of a curious kitty once).
- She loves finding inspiration from TikToks about thrift store flips, cleaning hacks, and DIY home makeovers.
- As a renter, Shelley loves to find ways to put her personal stamp on her home without making permanent changes.
Experience
Shelley's first taste of success in writing happened in high school when she won an award in a local writing contest. She never imagined writing would be her career, so she earned a degree in education and dabbled in several fields, including insurance and software testing. It wasn't until her second child was born in 2008 that she jumped into the writing world full-time. During that time, she has written thousands of pieces on a range of subjects before settling into the home improvement niche. You can find her work on several sites, including Hunker and eLocal. She's particularly passionate about cost-effective decorating, gardening in small spaces, and making your home cozy.
