  • Since 2022, Sharon has traveled to dozens of countries and states to review hotel design, function, and amenities. She is particularly fond of historic hotels.

Experience

Sharon is a history and media academic by day and a writer by night, covering travel, heritage, popular culture, and design topics for both print and online publications. She is a contributor to Yahoo! Lifestyle and TheTravel.com, where she regularly crafts social media content for their channels. Sharon has worked extensively in the historic architecture and preservation space and has co-curated exhibitions for museums throughout the New England region. From her history roots in history, Sharon developed a love for design, home DIYs, and antique upcycling. In 2024, she co-founded Culture|Slant, a heritage-minded design and travel Substack, where her travel writing is available via the site or newsletter. While she has re-transplanted to Los Angeles, Sharon is a New England coastal grand-millennial at heart.

Education

Sharon is a media and cultural studies doctoral candidate completing her final Ph.D. year at Birmingham City University in the U.K. She has an M.A. in museum studies from the University of Oklahoma and two post-graduate certifications from Harvard University (in museum studies) and Birmingham City University (research). She received a B.A. in history and anthropology from Chapman University in Orange County, California.
