  • Maisy just created a music-themed living room featuring framed album covers, black and white photography of artists, framed vintage concert posters, and a massive CD collection she refuses to part with.
  • An old house junkie, she volunteers with Preservation Sacramento where she serves as a docent during historic home tours.
  • She is her own home handywoman. Her proudest project to date: Taking apart a leaf blower down to its nuts and bolts, then repairing and reassembling it.

Experience

With more than two decades of reporting experience, Maisy's journalism career began at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington, where she wrote entertainment blurbs and a column about pets. From there, she worked as an entertainment and feature writer at daily newspapers on the West Coast, in the Midwest and the South, in addition to freelancing for various other papers and websites. Louisville, Kentucky is where she first began covering homes and interiors around 2008, and it has been a passion of hers since. Maisy has been a freelance writer for the past 15 years, most recently as a regular contributor to AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin. She has also written for USA Today's HOME magazine, as well as other lifestyle magazines published by the company. When she has free time, she dives into her passion project Instagram account, which combines her favorite things: gorgeous old homes, her dog (who poses in front of each house) and research (Maisy relays the house's history, earliest owners and architectural details). And yes, the duo has been to the oldest existing timber frame house in America, which was built in 1637.

Education

Maisy graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, with a B.A. in Rhetoric and Media studies and a minor in English.
