- Andy served as a home builder and remodeler with DM Custom Builders in Dutchess County, NY.
- He has written for several home improvement and building material magazines including HBSDealer, Green Building & Design, the Lumber Co-Operator, LBM Journal, ProSales, and National Home Center News.
- Andy spent several summers working for the New York State Bridge Authority, while scaling and painting the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge.
Experience
Andy began his writing career while serving as an editor and reporter at several regional newspapers in New York state. He has written about the lumber and building material industry, along with hardware and home improvement retail markets, since 2001. He wrote for HBSDealer.com (Hardware + Building Supply Dealer) and its magazine format from 2017 to 2024, where he also served as social media editor. At HBSDealer, he launched the successful "Top Showrooms" section. Prior to that, Andy wrote for a number of industry publications including HBSDealer's, predecessors, National Home Center News and Home Channel News from 2001 through 2007.
Education
Andy has a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Syracuse University.
