Tour This $11 Million New York Estate That Includes A Spa For Your Pet
A gorgeous mansion in Long Island has hit the real estate market with an asking price of just under $11 million, listed with Mansion Global. The estate, referred to as Cedar Hill, was built in 1916. The mansion has been restored to its previous early 20th century beauty while still maintaining integrity and modern luxury.
The estate is only 40 minutes from Manhattan, but the town of Muttontown has lots to offer on its own. The Village of Muttontown was established in 1931, meaning Cedar Hill predates the town itself. The village is known for having lots of nature preserves and sprawling mansions. The town is also located on Long Island's Gold Coast, which is home to numerous large mansions and estates (via Thirteen).
The home has certainly risen in value over time as well. According to property records from Zillow, the last time Cedar Hill was sold was in 2003 for just under $3 million. It was originally listed for sale again in November of 2020 for $12.5 million, and remained on the market for almost exactly a year with little success. It was re-listed in March of this year at a discount of more than $1.5 million.
A look at the Long Island mansion
According to the Mansion Global listing, this property is 8 eight acres in size, and the mansion itself includes 13,000 square feet of living space. The house is made of brick on the exterior, and has a very classic colonial revival appearance. Aerial photos from the listing show that the home is L-shaped with a slate roof. Two brick half walls mark the entrance to the gated property, and a long driveway turns into a large round entry area. Immaculately kept lawns lead to both the front entrance of the house and the heated three-car garage to the left.
There are a plethora of amenities both inside and outside of this property. There is a large, heated gunite pool surrounded by lush grass just outside the back patio exit. There is also a lighted Har-Tru tennis court with additional basketball hoops and markings. The grounds also include a golf putting ground, a large playhouse, and walled English gardens.
Inside the regal and rich estate
The inside of this Long Island home is very reminiscent of the extravagant period of the early 20th century during which it was built, while still reflecting a contemporary sense of luxury. The front doors open up into a polished foyer with black and white diamond-patterned marble flooring, walls with thick white crown molding, and a beautiful gold and crystal chandelier, as per Mansion Global.
The home is very regal and rich, but still has lots of charm and comfortable characteristics. The formal living room, for example, is very gilded, with expensive hardwood floors, intricate molding, a black marble fireplace, and a brass chandelier. However, the room still appears intimate and livable.
The house isn't stuffy, either. The grand room, for example, is incredibly warm and welcoming, almost resembling a lodge or cabin. The ceiling is a vaulted cathedral-style with wood planking, exposed beams, and cross beams. There is a mountain scene mural in between the beams on one end of the ceiling. The walls are wood paneling and the floor is a plaid pattern. There is a two-story tall stone fireplace and plenty of areas to lounge around.
Dog lovers will love this feature
According to the Mansion Global listing, this estate has a total of nine bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. It also has a plethora of other unique recreational and functional features. Among some of them include a custom built chef's kitchen with its own butler's pantry and breakfast room. The kitchen is made out of warm-toned woods, and despite having top-of-the-line modern appliances, it still remains very inviting.
Six of the nine bedrooms have full ensuite bathrooms, and one of the bedroom suites includes a handicap-accessible bedroom and bathroom. There is also an entirely separate quarter of the home for guests, offering them a sense of privacy. The mansion also includes an elevator for accessibility and convenience, an indoor swimming pool, a wine cellar, a heated garage, and a dog spa. The dog spa is next to one of the exterior entrances, and has a standing shower, deep sink, and tiled floor. Not only does this provide furry friends with the same luxury as the owners, but it offers a convenient wash off station to keep your dogs from tracking mud throughout the exquisite estate.
