You Can Now Own A Private Island In Missouri For Only $1 Million

No need to travel to the tropical oasis of the world to own your own island — with this Missouri island that just hit the real estate market, you can own your own water-bound land mass for $1 million, according to Realtor. The untouched island property is 0.99 acres, or 43,124 square feet, large with 880 feet of lakefront shores.

While the Missouri land mass is currently untouched, that doesn't mean it can't be remodeled into a gorgeous island house or rental property, as the listing suggests. The island has permits for a variety of upgrades, including a dock and electricity, along with a partial foundation and partial sea wall.

The property has been on the market for nearly two years, having been originally listed in July of 2020 for the current asking price. It was reduced to $995,000 exactly a year later in 2021 and was taken down at the beginning of this year. It was re-listed in early May for its current asking price.

A look at the island property

The island property is located in the Twin Islands neighborhood of Missouri, which Charlie Gerken notes is ideal for vacation homes and rentals, luxury homeowners, and retirees. The average land-bound home is sold for $204,000, although more high-end homes come with a higher price point. Adding the luxurious seclusion of an island retreat would likely raise the potential selling price as well.

The property is located on the eighth-mile of the Main Channel of the Lake of the Ozarks in Gravois Arm, which is over 53,000 acres with over 1,150 miles of shoreline, according to Four Seasons Property Management.

There are plenty of things to do and sights to see just a boat ride away, too, with Realtor listing restaurants like Shady Gator, Tap & Grill, Lakeside Brewhouse, Horny Toad's Bar & Grill, Franky & Louie's Beachfront Bar & Grill, and the 4-star hotel Camden Resort.
