Inside A Million Dollar Home In The Florida Town Built By Disney
Though the Walt Disney World resorts and parks are world-famous, you may not have heard about Disney's lesser-known venture, Celebration, which is a community created by Disney that backs up to the Walt Disney World Resort on the north side of Osceola County.
According to Click Orlando, Celebration sits on 27,000 acres of land that Walt and his team purchased in the late 1960s and was founded by the company in 1996 as an experiment in community planning called "New Urbanism." Celebration is not quite a town and not quite a city, instead operating under Disney's governmental arm, even after the company sold majority control of the community to private investors in 2004.
Similar to Walt Disney's vision for E.P.C.O.T as a utopian city, Celebration was established by The Walt Disney Company with the idea of it being an idyllic small town for people to live and work. Though you initially had to be selected from a lottery to move into this unique community, that is no longer the case, and for $1 million, you can purchase a recently listed luxury home in Celebration (and live as close to Walt Disney World as humanly possible. We call that a win.)
An outside oasis
The home, located at 202 Reserve Place, features a private, heated saltwater pool and spa on the back patio, per the listing, though residents of Celebration also have access to several public pools located throughout the community. In addition to their choice of pool access, residents can also enjoy 40 neighborhood parks (including a dog park), over 26 miles of walking trails, several playgrounds, a golf course, and a community center.
When designing the buildings in Celebration, Disney utilized pattern books in an effort to ensure a sense of uniformity among all of the homes and businesses in the community. The company held true to its idyllic, small-town vision for the community, and all buildings were modeled with porches in the front and parking in the back, per Click Orlando. This home is no exception and features a detached two-car garage in the back of the home behind the pool and patio that also serves as a guest house with a studio apartment on the second floor.
Luxury living in a small town community
The 3,263 square foot home sits on a 7,405 square foot lot, according to the listing. The house was built in 2000 and was most recently sold in May of 2021 for $750,000.
Despite the "small town" vision for Celebration and the home's misleadingly quaint curb appeal, the four-bedroom, three and a half bathroom property is the epitome of luxury upon opening the front door, with an open concept formal dining room and formal living room; highlighted by bright, natural light from the large windows throughout the home. The beautiful wide-plank flooring and a neutral, white palette throughout the house evokes a sense of modern luxury while providing the next owner with a beautiful blank slate and an opportunity to easily make the space their own. The spacious family room boasts built-in storage and double french doors that open up to the pool and spa area on the back patio and the large, fenced-in yard.
Ample space situated steps away Disney magic
The home also features a large home office with glass doors, allowing maximum privacy for those working from home. One of the most impressive parts about the property is the spacious, open kitchen, which the listing says showcases beautiful stone countertops, espresso wood cabinets, a waterfall island, a breakfast bar, and a casual dining space in addition to the formal dining room; providing ample space to prepare and enjoy a meal (on days where you don't venture into Walt Disney World for a Dole Whip or a Mickey ice cream bar!) A large laundry room is tucked behind the kitchen, as well as a wine fridge.
All three of the bedrooms in the main house are located on the second floor (with the property's fourth bedroom located in the guest house in the garage) and has a large master suite with a full bathroom, while the two additional bedrooms share another full bathroom; providing plenty of living space for a Disney fan, or simply for a home buyer looking to enjoy the perks of living in a unique community.
