Drake's California Mansion Is On Sale For $22.2 Million
Canadian rapper and singer Drake has listed his Hidden Hills mansion for $22.2 million, according to the realtor.com listing. The house itself is actually selling for $14.8 million, but it is being optionally offered in conjunction with two adjacent properties owned by Drake, which results in the higher overall price point. The entire property, neighboring homes included, totals at 6.7 acres, according to realtor.com.
Drake purchased the main property for $7.7 million in 2012, naming it the "YOLO Estate." The main home is 7,500 square feet, with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. He then purchased a neighboring property in 2015 for $2.85 million (an over 4,400 square feet ranch home) and then a 2,500 square foot home in 2018 for $4.5 million. That home is currently listed independently of the whole estate for $2.9 million, though it is also included for anyone wanting to purchase the entire $22.2 million property.
Drake's massive California compound
Drake's compound is lovely both in and out, but the outside is the real winner. According to the realtor.com listing, it is located on a private cul-de-sac and enclosed by horse trails. Outdoor amenities include a huge swimming pool, spa grotto, swimming accessible bar, waterfalls, an 80-foot rockslide all surrounded by televisions, a combination tennis and basketball court, sand volleyball court, horse stable, equestrian ring, and mechanical bull.
The grotto and pool are stunning, with a cave-like feel when covered and an oasis feel when exposed. Torches light the inside to keep the crystal clear, emerald blue water from getting too dark. At night, the entire pool and grotto light up with purple lights, making it a celebrity party haven. The athletic courts are large and have attached awnings for retreating from the strong California sun or to observe a match. The surrounding nature is unbeatable, and the outside alone justifies the price point.
Inside "YOLO Estate"
The interior of the Canadian-born and raised musician's mansion screams luxury and bachelor. Per the listing, features inside include beamed ceilings, six fireplaces, a large and dramatic wine cellar, a separate tasting room for hosting world-class sommeliers, and a 2,000 square foot private marble spa. The kicker? It's accessed by a secret bookshelf entry. There is also a private movie theater with a 25 seat capacity.
The home is a mix of modern, somewhat brutalist, luxury and classic bachelor. The large living room has unique, almost silver, gray exposed beams, large industrial windows, a dark marble, geometric fireplace, yellow-toned wood panel walls, and classy light fixtures. There is also a bar just next to the fireplace. Off to the side of the living room is the dining room, which is sunken down and next to a line of large windows, letting in lots of natural light. For nighttime lighting, there is a very unique, modern red lighting fixture.
Hidden Hills luxury
There are a variety of places to lounge, including another living room pictured above. This one from the listing sports brick walls, rough gray wood ceilings, an exposed brick fireplace, modern gray black wood flooring, another unique, classy light fixture, and direct access to the back patio.
Another one, which heavily leans into the bachelor pad aesthetic, has vaulted ceilings with a dramatic chandelier, multiple nooks with private booths, and a mixing station just in front of the studio — perfect for lounging, entertaining, and recording new music, all from the comfort of home.
The master suite, too, has quite a bachelor feel. Yellow toned wood panels the wall and ceiling behind and above the bed, and a separate area of the room with vaulted ceilings, next to the large windows providing a spectacular view of the compound, provides a sitting and lounging area. It leads into an en suite with a ginormous, deep mosaic bathtub, a separate marble tub, his-and-hers sink, and a shower.
