Britney Spears Just Announced She's Buying A New Home
Singer, songwriter, dancer, and cultural icon Britney Spears has been making headlines as of recent. The 40-year-old pop star sensation has recently made waves after being freed from her conservatorship under her father. According to CNN, the conservatorship took place in 2008 after Spear's public breakdown following her divorce from Kevin Federline and their difficult custody battle. Her father, Jamie Spears, took control of her estate, estimated at around $60 million.
Since then, fans have been petitioning for Britney to be released from her conservatorship. The popularity of the #FreeBritney movement made headlines and got Spears her day in court. The arrangement was terminated on November 12, 2021. After being released from the conservatorship, Spears has been speaking out about the abuse and torment she experienced. Spears claims under her conservatorship; she was forced to take birth control and other psychiatric medications such as lithium, as well as forced to perform against her will (via CNN).
Spears has a few projects in the works following her newfound personal and creative freedom. The pop star recently announced her partnership with Simon & Schuster, which is manifesting as a $15 million book deal (via Page Six). Spears has also announced her upcoming move. She has sold her Thousand Oaks mansion, a home in which the time she spent was entirely under the control of her father.
A change of scenery
Britney Spears recently posted a video displaying the view from her bedroom as the sun sets over the hills on her Instagram. "I've lived in this house for seven years, and I'm in the process of buying a new home ... it's time for [a] change!" the pop star wrote in the caption. Many are familiar with aspects of Spears' current residence, as she posted various clips of her dancing on her Instagram and TikTok.
In fact, this is where many of her fans noticed something was wrong — the singer would post videos of herself dancing in her living room, displaying strange, abnormal behaviors. Fans started asking Spears if she was okay, and at one point asked her to wear yellow if she was being held against her will. Sure enough, she wore yellow in her next video. Spears and her fans repeated this with red (via The Tab).
Spears even made a nod to this in her caption, writing, "I know you guys have seen me dance in my living room .... but honestly, I have three living rooms." She continues, "Maybe one day I'll give you guys a tour, but until then, here's the pink sky."
Inside Spears' Thousand Oaks mansion
As Britney Spears begins the hunt for her next home, her current Thousand Oaks mansion will likely be hitting the market soon. According to Zillow, the residence has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms and is just over 13,000 square feet, sitting on 20 acres. The mansion is described as an Italian villa and is located in the luxurious gated community of White Stallion Estates. Outdoors, the home boasts two private gates, mountain views (as seen in Spears' Instagram post), a pool, hot tub, tennis court, and lots of deck space. There is also a pool house, which is described as having a complete kitchen, fireplace, and a wine cellar that can hold up to 3,500 bottles.
Going inside, many will immediately recognize the living room, with the railing and center table being in the background of many of Spears' TikTok dance videos. The foyer is a massive, two-story entrance with 35-foot tall ceilings, Roman columns, granite flooring, and a view straight to the massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the mountains. Off to the side are a fireplace and the wrought iron spiral staircase.
Italian inspired luxury
The rest of the home exudes the same amount of Italian inspired luxury; the Zillow post listed the house as having a formal living room, formal dining room, chef's kitchen, breakfast room, four of the bedrooms having en suites, an elevator, media room, and the master suite having two separate walk-in closets as well as a balcony. More than this, Britney Spears wrote on her Instagram that she has three living rooms in total.
Above the living room and up the stairs is a large balcony overlooking the first floor, also lined with wrought iron fencing and marked with Roman-style columns. The breakfast nook has its own fireplace, as well as windows that offer a breathtaking view of the mountains. The kitchen is massive, with a large center island, plenty of countertops and cabinets, a double gas range stove, and windows surrounding the room.
The formal dining room continues the luxury, with granite floors, a bay window, columns leading into the room, and a raised ceiling. The office, which doubles as a library, is incredibly inviting, with intricately patterned wood flooring, wooden walls and ceilings, built-in shelves, and a fireplace. All of the bedrooms and their en suites are large, with tall ceilings, plenty of windows, and lots of space. Wherever the pop star is moving next, it will be tough to beat her current level of luxury.
