Britney Spears' Former NYC Apartment Is On The Market

Britney Spears' NoHo condo in New York City is on the market for just under $7 million, as noted by Compass. Located at 14 East Fourth Street, between Broadway and Lafayette Street, is the historic 12-floor Silk Building. Spears' fourth floor condo has 3,787 square feet of space, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and one half bathroom. She lived there for four years, including in 2003 when she wrote her Grammy-winning hit "Toxic."

Spears purchased the condo for $3 million in 2002 under the LLC "One More Time," according to the New York Post. To that end, if it sells for the full asking price, she will have made a $4 million profit. Additionally, since purchasing the condo Spears has done some renovations. This includes combining two of the building's units, apartment 1109 and apartment 1110, so her condo includes the building's penthouse and terrace. The listing has been on the market since February 14, 2022. While Spears is the current owner, she isn't the first musician to own this luxury condo.

The famous musicians who lived in Britney Spears' condo

Britney Spears' condo has a long history of musician owners. In the 1980s, Cher originally bought the unit for an undisclosed amount (via the New York Post). The only change she made during the years she lived there was turning an old greenhouse on the terrace into a gym with an outdoor shower.

Then in 1990, Cher sold the unit to Russell Simmons for $1.6 million. He lived there for six years and made no changes to the unit, unlike Cher and Spears. Unfortunately for Simmons, when he sold the condo he lost $1.52 million in the deal. Additionally, it has also been reported that Keith Richards owned the residence as well, but there are no details as to the price he paid it or for how long he lived there, according to Architectural Digest

While Spears owned the unit in 2016, it was available to rent for $24,000 a month. Finally, the Silk Building's main floor was also where the original Tower Records store first opened.

Since Britney Spears' condo is a combination of two units, it has four floors, according to the New York Post. The front door enters onto the 12th floor, but there is also access available to every floor from an elevator.

The property has an open floor plan with ceilings that span almost 12 feet and north-facing windows that look out to the city. On the main floor is the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Then in the living room is one of the many wood-burning fireplaces. Also, the kitchen opens to the dining room and living room area. It's a chef's dream with an island, a wine fridge, and Sub Zero, KitchenAid, and Viking appliances.

On the top level of the home is a 400-square-foot outdoor terrace, which is larger than the average New York City one-bedroom apartment. There is also a spare room and bathroom on this level that could be used as a den, game room, or fifth bedroom.

A look at the lower floors of Britney Spears' condo

The lower levels of Britney Spears' condo are located on the 10th and 11th floors of the building. These floors are mostly occupied by bedrooms, and each floor is connected by elegant, curved staircases. On the 11th floor are two bedrooms complete with custom closets and en-suites. The third bedroom and master bedroom are on the 10th floor, and both also have renovated bathrooms and custom closets. The luxurious master suite has a wood-burning fireplace and a wet bar. Since being renovated, the master bathroom has Tasos flooring and Italian marble in the tub and walk-in shower area, according to People.

This unit has attracted so many celebrities because of how rare it is to find a quad-plex penthouse. It's also in the only full-service loft conversion building in the area, with a 24-hour doorperson. This is the second home that Spears has put on the market in the last two years; her 7,500-square-foot L.A. mansion sold in February 2021 for $6.1 million.
